Relaxing with Cody

Relaxing is not the first word that comes to mind when I think of Cody.  He's usually tackling, jumping, running, flopping, etc.  But every now and then he can chill and relax (and cuddle).  Always a sweetie.  And if Lila is in the room, I quickly add - just like his sister!

Boys will be Boys

So, Cody went through 3 pairs of pants in one week.  The one above started as a little hole in the knee and after a car ride home his whole leg was ripped apart.  We had a talk about letting mommy fix the holes in his knees and not making them bigger.

He loves tall towers.

I love little feet (although his are growing a little too fast).

Chalk on the face!

Cody Doings

Cody is fun to watch when he plays by himself.  He loves to make parking lots with his cars and castles with his legos.

He likes his stroller - to push and climb in, not so much to ride in.

He hangs string from chair to sofa to another chair and hangs clothespin.  Then he brings other "decorations" such as the egg tree underneath.

He waited all winter for "snowman snow."  We've had plenty of snow, but this was the first sticky snow to make a snowman - a day before our beach vacation.  He was missing his snowman on vacation.

I do love that my boy loves to smell flowers.  Hopefully we can enjoy this together for years to come.

This is not a real rhino, but a perfect one for Cody to climb on.

Cody at 2 Years Old!

He started the morning with Mara's raspberry sorbet - one of his favorites!
Sweet Cody at two!  My little baby is growing up.  I am going to have to soak up as much baby snuggles as I can get for as long as I can.  I love as the kids grow up, but I miss some of the special parts that they grow out of.  If only there was some way to capture and hold on to some.  You can take pictures of a sleeping little one, but how do you hold on to that sweet smell of your baby, the way they squeeze you tight, the soft voice that says, "I lub you mommy!", the excitement in their whole body when they are happy, the high squeal of delight, the warm little body sitting on your lap, the hand twirling your hair, the determination to do something all by themselves, the little songs they sing when the words aren't quite right - I could go on.

I've always thought it would be fun to have a day with little Kyle, Mara, or Lila again.  Silly me!

One of my favorite "Cody things" is when he wants to be picked up, he reaches his arms up and says, "Oh baby!"  I guess that must have started way back when he wanted up and I said, "Oh baby!"  I love it!  I hope it lasts a while longer!

Mara made him a basketball cake.

He liked the cake!

His favorite present was a guitar.  Now he can play guitar like Kyle.

My Sleeping Baby!

You would think that we wear him out, but actually he usually wears us out!

Blowing Kisses and Harmonicas!

Cody loves to blow kisses ... at bedtime, to the birds flying in the sky, to the plug in the wall (he loves cords and plugs - we have to keep our eyes on him!), to daddy's iphone, to the kitties - he is full of kisses!  And each kiss is irresistible!

He has also figured out how to play the harmonica!

Cody Favorites

Cody loves to knock on doors, open and close doors, and play peek-a-boo behind doors.

"Clockas"
Cody is fond of clocks.  He can spot a clock anywhere - in books,
at the grocery store, at church, anywhere!

"Heaby" is Cody's word for "heavy."
A favorite pasttime is to find big things around the house, pick them up, and say, "Heaby!"
This will become part of our family fun words.

Every day he gets more adorable!  I hope to take it all in!  Even today he makes eating pizza fun simply by saying "pee-ba" over and over - his word for pizza, of course.  Joys of a one year old.

Our new baby Cody!

We are so thrilled to have little Cody now a part of our family! It has been an amazing adoption journey as we have waited and trusted God.

We flew out early to be here when Cody was born, but arrived almost a whole week before his arrival. It was a good week. We spent the week preparing and enjoying Albuquerque, NM with my parents. We took walks with the birth mom. And then finally on the morning of Friday, October 1, 2010, Cody Joel was born! There was rejoicing!

We brought him home several days later. We stayed with Cody and the birthmom for a couple of days. Then just with Cody while he basked in phototherapy for jaundice. Finally we brought him home. Again, rejoicing! We so happy to have him as part of our family! And we look forward to being his parents as he grows up.
