Clean Water Scattered Gifts (April/May)

test3.jpg

We are saving our money (our change) for giving clean water for April and May.  These two months are flying by as we are finishing school.  (It's Kyle's senior year.)  So we thought it best to focus on one way of giving.  We are hoping to do Lemon:Aid with Blood:Water Mission stand at the end of May to raise more money and awareness as well as collecting our coins.

We all have been learning how life saving clean water can be.  We take for granted our clean water that comes out of our faucet.  I have to convince my kids to drink more water rather than other drinks.  Not only is our water clean, but we have plenty of it - at our house!  The lack of clean drinking water is estimated to kill almost 4,500 children per day - most under the age of 5.  The average distance to walk to collect water per day of 4 miles.  You can find more key facts on unclean water here.

I have been looking at organizations that help give clean water.  Here are some of the ones I have found:

Blood:Water Mission - this organization has many project ideas to empower communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crisis in Africa.  We are hoping to do Lemon:Aid stand at the end of May to raise more money and awareness.

Compassion Water - Compassion’s Water of Life contains a bucket, hose, filter, connector and a syringe that’s used occasionally for rinsing the filter with clean water. Training on how to use Compassion’s Water of Life and hygiene education are provided with every system delivered, to ensure positive long-term results and improved health.

World Vision Clean Water gifts

This is part of our Scattered Gifts mission of our family. As we learn about different organizations, maybe God will lead us to give to some on a regular basis, go on a mission trip, or who knows what God will have us do!

Would you like to join us each month? Do you have organizations we can learn more about? I will be posting at the beginning of each month what our project will be. Some months we will be learning about more than one.

Past months:
January - Sweet Sleep
February - Shoes for Orphan Souls
March - Vision Trust

I'd love to hear about ways other families are giving and serving!

  1. You certainly seem to have a beautiful combination here: a compassionate heart and active hands!

May God bless your family as you serve . . . even a cup of cold water given in Jesus' name will not lose its reward.

  3. Oh, how I love the idea of scattered gifts and a monthly project. What an encouragement to do even more. Will definitely have to check out some of links here on your site.

  4. We've been involved in project clean water for a while now. It's been such a great experience. Are there any other opportunities you know of?
